  • Low +5V = Struggling PSU?

    Hi all,

I just noticed whilst tinkering with my new setup that my +5V line is only +4.82V. Is this too low so that I should be worried? Or Is it within tolerance?

If it's too low, does it mean my PSU is struggling? (standard 300Watter running an athlon @ 1.33Ghz, 2xHDDs, 1xDVD Drive, 1xCD-RW and a couple of other bits)

Also, the air exiting the PSU is pretty warm...

Your still within spec Steve... that's only -3.6% and the +5vdc spec calls for a max of +/-5%

It's not really an indication of the supply being overloaded either as they will vary as the load changes.

How are you monitoring this voltage?

Also what is the +5vdc current rating for your PS?
