I know, but those two AC3-patches each only work with one specific DVD-player software (and are not really compatible).
I've "upgraded"
from the $200 SBLive Platinum to a $65 Terratec DMX XFire and this card simply sounds better, has a small lean driverset and actually does work in Win2k. Ah, yes, AC3-out works with any DVD player software (Cinemaster, WinDVD, PowerDVD) out of the box, absolutely no problems up to now. The last test I still have to try is some vidcapturing, but I'm kinda sure that I'll get less framedrops than with the SBLive as well since the overall CPU contention especially under Win2k seems to be better. The card also seems to be less sensitive to PCI contention, I've yet to hear one single stutter in WinAMP when there's heavy activity.
So why should I put the crappy SBLive back in? In a year or so I might upgrade to the Audigy, from looking at it it seems as if Creative finally got theri act together this time. IF they manage to write decent drivers.
