      Could you please post the specs on the rest of your system!

      Mobo, BIOS ver, IRQ list etc.

        Thats why I asked him to look at the chip itself! So far I have no other info on his system then the w2k pic so I'm just gussing it uses the RTL 8139[A] chipset!

          your idea of uninstalling thru the wizard sounds great.... looks exciting... i have found one device that is called "unknown" should i remove it ? also i have many entries of the same device , eg OHCI Card that i have removed from the machine COZ IT WAS NOT HAPPENIN' ! comes up like 8 times... what does it mean being there? should i remove it - multiple entries ?

              I know... I'm surprised at that too ! Well to be honest 350days of the year i'm cruizin' ! But the remaining few days... the ones i choose to overhaul my system... that's where the mess is... you wanna laugh... i have practically done no work the past 3 days trying to get my PC[s] lgoing again [the way i want them] i'm so behind on work for clients it's not a joke... looks like an overnighter AGAIN tonite, this time doing client's work... I just have a few tweaks to iron out first.... Now help out on this one, X !

                Well since you asked so nice ... ... I don't know much about Realtek cards except to stay away from them. I smiled widely when I saw your first post and saw "Realtek" in the message.

                Clean out all that old garbage and maybe your OS will have an easier time managing real HW vs. phantoms. Sometimes an OS reinstall can be quicker to resolve totally messed systems if you don't have too much data and customization.
