Best gaming vid card for a Via-Amd based computer?

Once again a relative has ignored my advice & gone Via-amd.
So.....
How do the Ati cards do?

PS Right, like they could tell me what MB & processor they bought
They're just going to show up with a box of parts

PPS My preference would be non-Nvidia as i am sure the kid is not the only one that will be using the computer.

The Radeon worked and works without major problems here on AMD/VIA systems (including AMD750, KT133 and KT266) in Win2k.
And it has a bit better 2D-quality and better 2D-speed (if you look at the tests any new gfx-card seems to beat the Kyro2 in 2D speed, even TNTs).

But you normally don't notice the 2D speed that much (WinXP?) and if you're looking for good 3D performance with the best price/performance ratio the Kyro2 simply can't be beat. And it has the best quality 16Bit rendering. Plus, regarding to the tests excellent Win2k drivers.
