  • Dual Boot w/ 2k or XP

    Gidday Folks,
I've been using win98se exclusively with my Marvel g400TV card to edit my home video and do work stuff. But now I need to install either win2k or winXP to work with an updated version of my company's proprietary software. I'd like to dual boot so that I can keep my win98se and use my Marvel with MJPEG for my videos.
My question is which is the better OS between 2k and xp?

I'm hoping since I have to dual boot, I'll use win98se just for the mjpeg feature and use the 2k or xp OS for work, video editting, internet and fun. I've heard only good things from you folks about 2k, is it just too early to ask about xp?

    Thanks.

There are no drivers planned for XP support with your card.

Also do a seach on XP suppport on your card in Matrox Hardware and Desktop Video

      Bummer.
I know all about the mjpeg mess up with all OSs. But I thought or at least hoped they would develop a graphic only driver for Xp.
Anyways, I'm just about to do a forum search for XP support. Thanks.

Sure, they have a graphics-only driver for XP. It's called the G400 driver.

P.S. In case you missed my humor/sarcasm because I'm tired and the coffee hasn't kicked in, what I'm saying is that your card will work fine in WinXP as a G400.

Thanks folks, for cleaning up that mess.
But now back to my question. ( if it's not too early for XP questions).
Which would be the better 2nd OS for my dual boot? Win2k or WinXP? I have to add a second OS because of a new update to my company's internal pgm. But I have to buy the OS for home. ( at a small discount ) And I just want to buy the better of the two OSs.
          Thanks Again.
