  • ANybody tried Pioneer DVD 305 RPC1 firmware?

I@ve just found out that Pioneer have released a new version of their firmware for the 10/40X SCSI DVD drive, and that some enterprising guys have hacked it to be region free (woohoo).

Last time I mentioned this, I got a little bity of support for wanting this, so I@m just wondering, has anyone tried this? Did it work?

    REgion Free DVD drive Good

    Dead DVD drive bad.

Just hoping it's gonna be the former.....

I have flashed RPC-1 firmware for Pioneer 305S without any problems. Just make sure you have DOS bootable diskette (or Windows DOS) with ASPI driver loaded (for your SCSI controller). I'm very satisfied with that drive, fast CDDA extraction and CDRW reading, way better than Toshiba! Well, unless you try to copy protected games with CloneCD :-)

That's all I needed to hear 8-) Right, all I need now is a region free crack for WinDVD.

      Ta for the report.
