Aureal w/ win2000 -> not good

Why do I loose the sound in w2k after a while. I've got a arueal sq1500 soundcard. If if only use windows I can have the sound for quite a while, but if I play winamp it'll dissapear in 2 hours and if I play games it will be gone in 5 mins or less! I'm really really tired of this

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
