Win XP VS Win2K

    Win2K SP2 is more stable & compatable here. XP sometimes forgets it is IEEE-1394 compatable.....not to mention some random crashes.

    Bottom Line: if you install a M$ OS that hasn't yet had a service pack released then you are the on their beta team.

      Dr. Mordrid - I've NEVER had my firewire crap out on me.

      And in WinXP I've never seen a blue screen that wasn't due to Creative's beta drivers or the beta drivers for my vidcap card... both of which have now been corrected.

      However, this is no BETTER than Win2k - since Win2k was super stable for me.

      I tend to think that people with consistent problems with nice stable OS'es have underlying problems that need to be dealt with.

      In your particular case, have you considered that the BIOS/drivers for the TX4 might need to be updated, or that the Santa Cruz is NOT known to be totally stable in Win2k/WinXP?

      Also, your board has ISA slots. That right there is a guarantee of at least occasional bluescreens.
