Some of the soundboard gurus are now reporting that the Audigy is little changed from the SBLive save for a few new features and a fixed ACPI interface.

There also appears to be a problem with the Audigy and XP: USB dropping out.

Apparently installing the Audigy CD drivers wipes out the USB drivers. Some report sucess in rolling back the gameport driver to fix it, but others....

That's odd. My USB is flawless with my Audigy under XP. Maybe I did something wrong?

Could be just an installation problem with some configs. I mentioned it because I'd seen several references to it in the audio NG's with a couple mentioning a possible fix.

Yes, it happens. That´s why it´s good to trust XP on this one when at the attempt of installing those weird nomad usb drivers when it says something like "This drivers are going to render the system unstable" and not letting them to install.

Maybe it´s more than a couple fps after all. Everything that had 3d sound/EAX took a noticeable performance dive, now it´s minimum. Like MDK2, with 3D sound disabled there was a boost of like 12 fps. Now with the Audigy it scores under 1 fps less. Great.
