  • Running multiple games on a server ?

    Hi guys,
Suppose I have a LAN with about 20 computers all using 100Base-T connection and a dedicated server just for games. Is it possible (and easy?) to run 2 or more games at the same time on this server so player on each client can choose what game to play?
If yes, what are requirements for this server in term of CPU speed, HD and videocard ?
    Any advice is very welcome.
    Thanks.

    Sure, it's possible.
The guy who ran the servers for our MURC Mountain States Lan parties would run several games on each server, and it worked quite well.
Best set up is a multi-proc rig running Win2k. (he was running 2 dual P3s on win2K)
Video card doesn't matter much, because when in server mode, you are only seeing a text console, not the graphics of the game itself.

Kruzin, I get my asnwer just several minutes after I posted my question here while I'm still waiting for the answer of the same question I posted on PlanetUnreal several days ago. That's the reason I visit this forum everyday... This is #1 Forum on the Net.
Thanks for your reply. It helps me so much.
Can I ask you a further question. Is your friend using Win 2k Server or Professional version?
