Well it could a make a difference. If you're burning CDs which contain Audio-Tracks and the CDRom can't read them fast enough for the burner, you will get problems when trying to do OTF copies. And quite some of the older IDE CDRoms have major problems with digital audio extraction (both, speed and data-integrity wise).
Well, the Samsung did terrible at audio-extraction (just couldn't perform correct DAE, at any speed), but copying datadisks also didn't work.
But now I know this is not always the case in a mixed setup (with my chipset, it apperently ought to work); it depends heavily on the cdrom drive (the Samsung failed to pass several cd-copy test programs, but the drive is over 3 years old).
So perhaps cd-cd copies will be possible with the Toshiba DVD drive (will post here if succesfull )
