Hmm.. odd.. cuz the wiring at work we had problems with the neutral not being properly shielded, and the electrician said that the neutral isn't grouned in the building, but returns to the service station outside.

Shielded?! OMFG!!! I'm going to say this and if anyone out there is an electrician please don't be offended... 90% of electricians are clueless dumbasses... and out of the other 10%, 5% are arrogant a**holes that think the rest of the world cannot possible comprehend what they know. Sadly they'll say whatever BS just to shut ya up.

btw I did say that neutral and ground were terminated in the main electrical service box.

Greebe: Sorry for not replying earlier, was having some connection problems
Greebe and Spoogenet: In my original post, I meant Voltage . By saying that there was current b/w the terminals, I was trying to say that there was "electrical current" and not current as in Amperes!! Heh, heh, I realized this mistake and that's why later I started talking about "Voltage". Sorry for not being clear about that I haven't been able to check the Current potential b/w the terminals, coz there is no current measuring facility on my multimeter!
I tried another powerstrip, and that doesn't show any voltage b/w the ground and the neutral. I also noticed that the previous powerstrip's plug couldn't be pushed in completely into the wall socket, so i guess Greebe's explanation of a poor connection at the plug is correct
