Yes. These drivers set right, or at least FIRMLY WRONG, many an issue.

Among the issues TB has refused to address:

    - DS3D sucks. Sucks ass. Sucks Donkey Dong and Ass.
    - EAX sucks harder than DS3D.
    - Games based on the Infinity Engine sound like all the characters have marbles in their mouths. "Pwoththththeeed twowoo Bpbpbpaldhdhurgrgrgs Gyayayaythththe!"

But hey, they're now CERTIFIED to suck.

    - Gurm

P.S. Before anyone thinks I'm just being my typical self, let me say that for general sound in Windows and for Audiophile music, especially on the Analogue outputs... as well as for non-directionalized gaming... the TBSC is far and away the best card on the market. Of course, if you LIKE games...

Got to admit I came too trying their solution and throwing the sblive 5.1 over the 686b. But I decided to work the problem as I spotted a few posts where the santa cruz solution was no solution. They were ignored when they asked for further help. I also remember Winc doing a write up and the results seemingly proving it was a Via problem. Anyway John Gatt of Via got pissed at this and there was a short argument and then no further work or verification was done. Pity really.

I got a TBSC recently to replace my SBLive!. So far, I don't have any problems with games. but I don't use any 3D sound, since all the 3D sound APIs I've heard sound inferior to A3D 2.0, which sadly, is no longer supported.

What about Hercules Fortissimo and the latest Aureal Vortex? Are they better options overall (gaming included)?

Well, the new drivers dox said they reduced CPU utilization. They do....

                MP3: Santana's "Smooth" Joint Stereo 16 bit 44.1khz @192 kbps

                Previous WDM drivers: 7.6%
                Updated WDM drivers: 3.9%

WAV: Santana's "Smooth" PCM Stereo 16 bit 44.1khz @176 kbps

                Previous WDM drivers: 1.9%
                Updated WDM drivers: 1.2%

The WAV is the MP3 decoded to PCM. Win2K's performance monitor got the numbers. WMP 7.1 did the playback.
