I know I'm a bit late to switch to WinXP, but I'm in computer heaven. Just installed XPpro on a new P4 Norhwood, now have broadband, etc. I'm loving it (once I got rid of the yucky default interface....Microsoft was very wise to include a "classic" option). I've used NT and 2000 at work for a long time, but this is my first use of an NT-type system as my main gaming rig. I recall seeing around here tidbits on XP tweaking, but can't seem to find them by searching the forums.
Specifically, I recall seeing something about the default ethernet card settings not being best for performance?
Also, I suspect there are quite a few services running that I don't need, but I'm not sure what is absolutely necessary.
I've used some of the tweaks from TweakXP, but I'm not sure how reliable that site is.
Does TweakUI 1.33 work with XP? Any problems?
Any other tweaks you've found? I'm using this system primarily as a gaming rig with cable-modem access.
Thanks,
John
