  • Require Benchmark Site With Specific Tests

I would like a site that has a proper performance test for the following.

The New Celeron at either 1.2 or 1.3 Vs Similar Duron and Athlon without the Duron and Athlon being tested with DDR chipset.

The New Celeron Vs The Pentium 4.

The first one is the most important but I am having difficulty finding an unbiased review.

    Thanks
    AMD Phenom 9650, 8GB, 4x1TB, 2x22 DVD-RW, 2x9600GT, 23.6' ASUS, Vista Ultimate
    AMD X2 7750, 4GB, 1x1TB 2x500, 1x22 DVD-RW, 1x8500GT, 22" Acer, OS X 10.5.8
    Acer 6930G, T6400, 4GB, 500GB, 16", Vista Premium
    Lenovo Ideapad S10e, 2GB, 500GB, 10", OS X 10.5.8

    tough request ...

maybe you should just search all reviews for according CPUs and just pick out all numbers for comparison lateron ?

    here's one "Celeron 1600 vs XP 1600"

another one "PIV SDRAM vs PIV DDR vs XP DDR vs T-Bird SDRAM"

I admit those are not really full roundups, but at least some common numbers to compare.

    Hope that helps.

      Thanks

It doesn't have to be a full roundup for those specific CPU's... its just I have a few people I deal with who want to know the performance difference between the Duron/TbirdXP with SDRAM and the Pentium III/Celeron Tualatin with SDRAM.

compares Pentium III 1 GHz [Coppermine] vs. Celeron 1.2 GHz [Tualatin] vs. Celeron @ 1.6 GHz [Tualatin] vs. AMD Duron 1 GHz [Morgan]

it's in german, but you didn't want text anyways, right ?

Not bad... I can understand the uber language enough and the pictures help lots
It is still pitting it with Intel-SDRAM/AMD-DDR though and thats one of the biggest reasons why I am having trouble...

          I need Intel-SDRAM vs. AMD-SDRAM.

I have a T-bird 1,33+SDRAM and it runs faster than any Celeron 1,3GHz system, if I compare the results from reviews with the results I get.

                cbman,

I don´t have an answer to your question, but I have a question that could use an answer.

Why would anyone want to run an Athlon with SDRAM, unless you´re limited by an old m/b in which case you don´t have a choice between AMD and Intel anyway?

One of the people I am dealing with had invested in a fair number of 256MB SDRAM modules (Two per old machine) for his work machines (Slot 1 boards) not realizing that DDR would spread so fast throughout the AMD world. All he wants to do is to change the board and the chip (For about 25 systems) without having to reinvest in ram.

I said I would look into it for him.. hence my question.

Aren't there some Athlon motherboards that use ALi chipsets and have both SDR and DDR slots? I know they're not the fastest, but if they're stable, they might be a good choice for him.

                      I have heard of them...

It might be a good idea to look at.

But I would rather have a stable SDRAM chipset than a hybrid one that could cause problems..

Agreed. If it's stable, I would go for it, considering your friend's desire to hold on to that SDRAM. The other option is to try to find a supplier that has some old socket A/SDRAM overstock, and make him a nice offer. 25 boards is enough that you could get a tidy price cut.
I got a LOT of responses typing "Socket A" into www.overstock.com Looks like about 40 cents on the dollar. You could probably do better if you made an offer for bulk purchase.

I will give it some thought and see what he says.
