I still have this Beast but it's been in the original box collecting dust in my closet.

It was one hell of a card in it's time.

BIG card for a display adapter, at least today. How long is that thing?

The biggest card I have running right now is a Promise SuperTrak100 6 channel RAID 0/1/3/5 card. It runs 12.25" long & 4.25" high....with the rack handle removed.

            An update.

The card arrived today. The size of the card is huge.

Drivers are definatly immature for win2k (had a few problems in games that I tested) though didn't noticed a problem in win98.

FSAA rocks, the pictures on the net don't give you the right impression, it sure is a nice feature when playing flight sims or car simulations.

And I've got triple screen but I need a third monitor or a monitor switch.

Haven't benchmarked the card yet tried to install Quake 3 but my CD is broken (invalid win32 application when I try to run setup ). So benchmarking has to wait a day or two.

              The card sure it huge

I found a nice Tweak guide http://www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/voodoo5/index.shtml which really helped me set this thing up right, I play UT at 800x600 2xFSAA, at around 60 FPS average.

I wonder what would of happened if 3dfx allowed other to produce glide drivers back in the voodo 2 days...

would glide have become an established standard with 3dfx in the place where nvidia is now?

Whats the 2D/3D quality like from a Voodoo 4500 or 5500?
I'm rather taken with the idea of putting in a 5500 just for gaming. My Iiyama has 2 inputs

2D is decent RichL definately not as good as my G200 or G400 but better than a Geforce. My Geforce at work is worse than this Voodoo 5.

But I still got some problems sometimes Quake III or UT freezes after an half hour gaming under Win2K . Maybe I just got driver problems but I also suspect my PSU (350W) I've got 5 PCI cards in my system those consume a lot of power .

At the moment I'm running the demo loop of 3dmark 2000 under win98 with the Voodoo 5 attached to a seperate PSU. And it's running now an half hour without a problem so I guess It's the PSU or it's just Win2K that is causing the freezes.
