  • Sharing outlook address folder

Okay my boss wants to know whether this is possible without exchange server. The person asking him is next to god as far as the University is concerned.

    See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/share.htm

I don't recommend Net Folders unless everyone has Outlook 2000,
doesn't plan on upgrading to 2002, and has a high tolerance
for screw-ups. Net Folders screws up -- a lot. Duplicate
    contacts, missing contacts, the works.

        The short answer is... no.

Not in a reliable manner, at any rate.

One rather simple solution would be to create a Word document.

Insert hyperlinks with the addressee's Last name first (or any other sort criteria) you can tab over and add other info like dept or phone number.

Sort the document. Save as a web page into a directory shared by all users. This page can then be added to everyone's "Favorites" in Explorer/Outlook. Just click on the addressee's name and the "mailto:" function will be invoked on the default email client.

You can make changes, re-sort and re save the document as needed. Just keep the document name the same and everyone will have an current list.

You can make this setup more sophisticated by creating tables in the document and linking the table to an Excell spreadsheet or Access database. Change the spreadsheet or database and ----instant update.

            Cheers
