Or this one ... (good pictures)

Basically you need to wire the VID pins on the CPU in a certain way !!

wow 1000mhz. I'd also would really like to know where you got those rimms.

From all the reports I've read, most of the quality RIMMs can hit 1200mhz.

I refuse to go near Rambus, even if DDR is a bit more expensive than it was.

I think I@ll be happy with a £150 chip that'll do 2.2GHz. If anywhere in the UK has any any more. Anyone know of any suppliers with stock? Or cheapness?

Why not touch Rambus? Oh, maybe because they're a legal firm rather than an engineering house? Or because they tried to sue everyone else over to their side?

                    Rambus bad company

I guess we shouldn't be using any M$FT SW either.

I just never got over the sheer cost of it when it came out. Also, it doesn't overclock well 8-) And what's with matched memory modules? I'm sure that went out with the introduction of 72pin simms. It's an irrational dislike, ok? (well, slightly irrational) (now) (that's it's relatively cheap)(And they started paying out so much in lawyers fees)

I did Comp Sci at Swansea, gave SUCS some hardware and they gave me a life membership, and an email addr that should work for ever. Yay.

                      I'm currently in Filton, roadie.

Ta for the links people, overlockers have got a P4 for the best price I@ve yet seen it, and a really sweet Zalman almost silent HSF (that has reviewed well). Damn, I sound like their rep 8-).

Looks like my fate it sealed, and I shall have to survive the cries of 'Splitter!!!' from the AMD camp.

Matched memory sticks are going to come and go in cycles. Whenever a processor has a data bus width 2x that of the memory stick it's coupled with, matched sticks will almost certainly be involved. Even the SDRAM folks will see it again when the 128-bit bus processors come out.

And FWIW, I avoid MS products when possible. And they, BTW, have been found guilty.

I must admit that the only money I've given M$FT for SW is $25 for a full version of Win98 at the company store on campus: The rest I get from developer subscriptions. I tried to avoid "bad" companies for a long time but you just land up shooting yourself in the foot and none of them are saints anyway.

                              Sorry for the late reply....

Anyways as far as memory goes,it's generic over the counter samsumg Rdram pc 800,nothing special really...

The only thing i have to do to make it run reliably at that speed is disable agressive timings for the memory to hit 125 mhz fsb..

But in terms of overall performance, there isn't much of an increase between 120 mhz and agressive timings enabled or 125 with it disabled,so i keep it at 120,hence the sig....

Of course, it could also be that my Gf3 is already maxed out anyhow,so i would need to try it with a faster video card to be sure... .
