  • Anyone having problems With Norton SystemsWorks 2002?

I'm having problems with the liveupdate...everytime it downloads the updates for Speed Disk and Utilities it doesnt install them. Anyone else having a problem?

No... not those problems.. I do have an AV 2002 on one of the demos that successfully downloads the updates, and installs them.. but doesn't use them

    Gotta love software...

Do you have the same problem after a reinstall of the program. Or when running the program on a different computer?

I've seen that at work the only solution was to uninstall the whole lot and then re-install making sure the folders concerned were manually deleted.
I've got another problem under win2k where nortons won't let install newer ati drivers. Can't be arsed to fix that as I don't game under win2k.

Well besides the inabiltiy to install the Norton Utilites and Speed disk updates in XP I have an DLL error that pops up when the system first starts up.

My Old mans PC has the same excact problem...same DLL and cant do the Live update upgrades. Hes also running XP

When I did the Liveupdate...the install was fresh since Windows XP decided to corrupt its System Registry file on Saturday night and I had to do a reload.

          I haven't done a reinstall of SystemsWorks yet....Guess I'll try that next...

To tell the truth I never had a problem with Norton with my system either when I was running Windows 2000 or WinXP before my last reinstall. I started getting the DLL problem last month and I replaced it with a DLL from an machine that wasn't upgraded with the lastest liveupdate. I thought downloading the newer Liveupdate would fix this...but nope still doesnt work and makes things worse! I'm going to try unistalling SystemsWork later today and see if it that fixes it...I'm not holding my beath!

As for Issues with my KG-7RAID..only problems I've had is if I have my 250 ZIP plugged in, The XP Installer cant recongize the RAID partion for some reason, but If I unplug the power it works fine. I had an ACPI issue, but it was related to a Modded BIOS I was using and upgrading to newest Beta BIOS from Abit fixed that.

Otherwise I dont have any the issues you have...VIA or ATI driver problems with my motherboard...I'm happy with it!

I also had headache with Norton System Works 2002. I kept getting "The procedure entry point ?SRStopRedirect@@YAKK@Z could not be located...". Already tried to uninstall everything (with manually deleted folders and registry keys) and reinstall but it did not help. Tried to install NAV 2002 alone from Norton System Works 2002 (using the setup file NAV.MSI in NAV folder) but it did not help either.
Finally, I got a copy of NAV 2002 standalone and it worked fine now... phew

Works fine here so I think you need to look deaper. If you have a spare hard drive just bung the video drivers and then Nortons on and see what happens.
I can't install any new ATI drivers on my win2k with any Nortons installed of any flavour the machine will hang on reboot. I had a spare hard disk so I did a format and clean install and everything worked.
Of course if you did full format and it still goes wrong you're looking at a driver software conflict of some kind.

Norton System Works 2002 was the biggest waste of money. I've used the various Norton Utilities for a long time but I was having so many problems with XP and System Works (most discussed in this thread) the easiest solution was just to uninstall it.

NSW 2k2 Pro is totally problem-free for me. However, please note:

                        1. Don't install Cleansweep on WinXP.
                        2. Don't install that crappy version of Ghost, period.
                        3. Winfax = Wincrap.

                        And also...

                        4. Undelete protection on your recycle bin will make your machine hella slow. Be honest and admit that you are totally unlikely to decide that you didn't mean to throw something away, and if it's THAT important you can use a real undeleter.

                        5. NAV needs some tweaking. Don't check outbound mail, and make sure that it isn't trying to auto-repair "suspicious-looking" files.

If only life were as easy as you
I'm the least you could do, oh yeah
If only life were as easy as you
                        I would still get screwed

I'm having the EXACT same trouble with NSW 2002 that
                          GT98 has........Speed Disc and NU 2002 won't update.
All was well until I installed a new WD 100GB
hard drive and converted my second drive to NTFS.

                            Tom,

I uninstalled NSW2002 a couple days ago and All is fine with it minus SpeedDisk. I was suprised to see that Norton AV was already updated with the lastest rev of antivirus after installing and NU was updated also...I'm guessing the updates are put in a septrate folder and NSW2002 looks at it and installs them if see the folder. I might try uninstalling just speed disk and installing it again to see if it fixes the problem.

I've had problems at work with nortons speeddisk refusing to run after installing xp on another partition. This clearly altered the ntfs filing system although I told it not too on all the drives.
Perhaps Nortons 2002 speed disk looks at OS it's running and then decides what ntfs type should be there and falls over when it finds another type.
