  • WinXP - Cannot remove folder, access denied

I had this error when I first tried to delete it, so I set permissions up so the administrator group had control of it. Once I deleted it, I thought my problems were solved. However, when I try to empty my recycle bin, it gives me the error again! I can't move it out of the recycle bin to check its permissions because Windows isn't letting me move it.

    Any ideas? TIA

Have you restarted your computer already this could solve your problem. (The Handle that locks the folder will be deleted then)

I've tried emptying the bin/restoring the folder while in safe mode, still no go. I'm fairly certain it has to do with permissions, but I can't change them since it is in the recycle bin.

Check your permissions of the folder Recycler. This folder contains the permissions of the recycle bin.

Recycler -> Properties, then choose Advanced on the Security page.

Did the trick once I set all the subfolders/files to gain the same permissions as the RECYCLER. Thanks!
