After I OC'ed my fingers, I now see a great improvement going from ps2 to USB!!!
on Asus boards. My recently replaced AMD760 based A7M266 was great until maybe a month or so ago (I've had it for nearly a year), at which time something in the motherboard itself decided to make AGP4x unstable. I had a VisionTek GF3, 2x256MB Micron PC2100 ram, and a T-Bird 1.33GHz processor on board. About a month ago, I started having problems with WindowsXP reverting to 640x480x16 colors (yes, that's colors, not bits). When I checked device manager, I saw that there was a red X on the GF3. Rebooting would occasionally fix the problem, but when I checked using PowerStrip, I saw that the video card was reverting to 2x mode. I tried reinstalling the AMD AGP drivers, the nVidia drivers (several revisions), all to no or spurious effect. Finally I checked the BIOS, where I disabled 4x AGP mode. At that point, everything started working again.
