  • voodoo 2 and Athlon combo......

I am having trouble with my voodoo 2 SLI combo in my Epox 8kha+/GeForce GTS Pro.

The initial install went fine; the 3dFx appplet worked, the Glide game ran fine. My troubles began the next day when I booted up and tried to run the game again (Red Baron 3D): I then got page fault errors, and no load. The 3dFx control applet would also no longer come up. A reboot then failed at the windows splash screen, as did a subsequent attempt. On removing the pass through cable and just going through the Gforce all was back to normal.

The hardware ran fine in my old BX6/G400, so I know it is probably a software conflict.

The screen was also suffering from a mild form of ghosting - several overlapping images- rather like 4 or 5 playing cards stacked and fanned out slightly, so you can just see the edges of the cards underneath. This only with the pass through cable in use.

I used the latest 3dFx reference drivers and good quality pass through cables, 22.40 Dets, DX8, W98se

I did see a reference on another site that seemed to indicate that there is a special voodoo driver for Athlon systems. Is this correct?

Does anyone have this setup working, of have a suggestion?

Yes, there is a software conflict, and yes there is an answer...

You want to go here for a solution.

There is a problem with one file and substituting an older file for one of the latest one seems to be the fix.
