After the Jerry Sanders (CEO of AMD) did a favour for Bill Gates im not suprised at all they are making it. Hopefully AMD will finally able to take a large chunk of Intels market share. Also I hope the new AMD chip comes out roughly at the same time as the new Matrox chip so I can buy them together

They were making it anyway. It's apparently been with developers for months. It's in MS's financial interest to have x86-64 Windows.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Whoops i was thinking about Microsofts support for AMD I don't why i was refering to them making it I believe Intel will also be coming out with a 64 bit chip a couple months after AMD, i think it is called Prescott or Yamhill im not sure.

I heard a 64 bit version of doom is coming out as well i would be interesting to see how the 32 bit and 64 bit differ performance wise.
