I'd say ogg vorbis support is reason enough.

I would definitely recommend upgrading fom 2.79. THere was a problem with 2.79 where the main player section would open and it would sometimes take several secons for he playlist, browser, and equalizer sections to open. An oh yeah, built in OGG/Vorbis support for the two larger installs.

And don't forget to add the MAD Plugin: http://www.mars.org/home/rob/proj/mpeg/mad-plugin/

And don't forget to add the MAD Plugin
personally i use the 'enhancer' plugin that can be found here . when it is set on general improvements the sound is noticably better.

however i shall try this mad one, and compare the two, has anyone here done this before???

I guess you can use them together, because they do different things... MAD is an input plugin that enhances decoding precision and Enhancer is a DSP plugin that equalizes and enhances the sound.

Edit: Appears to work... Although you might have to use the 16-bit mixing mode in MAD because Enhancer might not support precisions of > 16 bit.

I reckon windows media player sounds better then winamp.

Nullsoft, which makes WinAmp, has confirmed the vulnerability, which does not affect the newest version of the software. Version 2.80 of WinAmp is available on NullSoft's Web site. The problem can also be fixed by disabling WinAmp's minibrowser.

The weakness is particularly dangerous because MP3 files are generally considered safe, & hundreds of thousands of users frequently trade them with unknown Internet users via file-swapping services such as Kazaa & Morpheus.
