Unless i've misunderstood, the 7000 is directly related to the 7500. The 7500 is merely a Radeon 64mb DDR but on a smaller die and faster clocks. Possibly a redesigned PCB, i'm not sure, but the chip is basically the same.

The 7000, unless i've misunderstood used to be called the Radeon VE. The Radeon VE a Radeon 32mb SDR without the TCL engine, along with dual, monitor support.

Anywaz, my 8500 is running beautifully under both win2k and winXP. DVD player works fine, just as long as you use the latest 7.6 (I use powerDVD XP anywaz, better audio). If you're having problems with ATi's drivers, I recommend giving Redsoftware/Omega's drivers. They are a 3rd party, but have proven to put out very reliable and fast drivers (not optimized for benchmarks).

You can find the newest joint red/omega drivers at:
    Primary system specs:
    Asus A7V266-E | AthlonXP 1700+ | Alpha Pal8045T | Radeon 8500 | 256mb Crucial DDR | Maxtor D740X 40gb | Ricoh 8/8/32 | Toshiba 16X DVD | 3Com 905C TX NIC | Hercules Fortissimo II | Antec SX635 | Win2k Pro

      Both were plain Dimms.
The 32mb one is from a Compaq, the 128mb one is a no-name budget special.

I've got a 128mb stick using Hyundai chips and a 64 using NECs in my other box (I'm not pinching any of the 256mb Crucial from my main rig!), so I might give that a try.

Next thing after that I think it to swap the ATI for a G200 I've got lying around spare.
      Athlon XP-64/3200, 1gb PC3200, 512mb Radeon X1950Pro AGP, Dell 2005fwp, Logitech G5, IBM model M.

The 7000 also only has one pipe. The Radeon SDR has the exact same core as the other Radeons (32MB DDR, 64MB DDR).
