  • KT7A Max Chip?

    Hi all,

Anyone know what the highest Athlon CPU that will work in an Abit KT7A mainboard? I've just been asked to find out, but I've never used one. Looking at Abit's site, it's the Via KT133A chipset so I assume it'll take up to the latest Palominos?

Depends on the version, <1.3 only support T'birds, 1.3 and above support Palamino's.

And they'll support non-explosive capacitors about version 2.5

PeTe if you would have (like me) changed a couple of 100 abits with blown caps you would agree with us!

Seems like you can't have a sense of humour round here.
Pete do a bit of research and you'll find that earlier Via based boards weren't the best and hence the reason for there known unreliablity.

Sure, i know that people had problems with them. But do you guys HAVE to post about them to EVERY topic that mentions Abit. Atleast the 3-4 last posts that had anything about Abit, Pit posted the same *ucking thing.

Seems like some of you use a search for "Abit" and then come "joke" about it.

And when you do it 15x its not HUMOR anymore. It might be funny for the first 4-5 times, but after that it gets REALLY old.

Well if you work requires you to fix these boards.. what do you expect.. ill bet that KT7/A series was the TOP seller when it got out. So if there are a LOT of them, you are going to see more of them FIXed.

                        Simple logic.

Ps. Dont get me wrong, Abit is far from perfect, but still..

I am (was) a local reseller and my work is not to fix them but to change them under warranty! We have sold many 100 MSIs over the last few years as well and I have only had to cange 3 or 4 of them and all have been under the 3 year warranty as oposite to abits 1 year!
