  • Case...

    Well hi!

What is your favourite computer case?

Does anyone know if there is a big difference between lian-li's pc-6x cases an pc-8x cases?

Give me some suggestions what to look for in a good computer case.

I personally look for noise in computer components, so I would get a case that blocks noise from fans, HDD, etc...

I would get one of those, from NoiseMagic, you can get the dampening material they sell and use in their casesat Plycon

      I have a LianLi PC70...
Great case (plenty of room, very good cooling esp. for hot harddrives (e.g. 10K)). I guess it runs quite loud (4x80mm fans), but not as loud as my disks, so it hardly matters.

One drawback of aluminium is that it is hard to get it noisefree, I had to refit my sidepanels several times before they stopped vibrating when my DVD-drive spun to full speed.

But apart from that: you'll never need/want/look for another case...

Just wire a switch in so you can toggle from 7vdc on the fans to 12vdc.

I'd suggest a normal case design (I prefer InWin personally) with a 92mm - 120mm fan or two added

Just recently bought a Chieftec/Coolermaster case from Overclockers.co.uk. Lovely Aluminium front, 4 fans and plenty of room inside.

I got a 'Cyber Fusion' from these guys: http://www.avgs-tech.co.uk

It's not quite blue like it shows - more pix here: http://www.steve-cooper.co.uk/case/ (site is down at the moment, but will be back later today, I hope!)

              Cost me something like £50.

                I go for cheap, personally.

Especially if you're going to mod it. That way if you **** it up you're only out $30-$40 bucks.

                This is my current case

When I found this thing, I just had to have it. It's the best case I've ever seen. It's seriously functional, it's attractive, and you don't have to cut holes in it, either. It isn't a too-tall full tower, but has 8 bays, it can fit an EATX board inside (which I happened to have), and you can put that SCA module in it which has room for 5 drives with heatsinks and fans built in. Yes, it's a bit more than even a LianLi, but it's in a class above even those popular cases. The company has a very close relationship with Asus, who makes the scsi backplane for the SCA module and uses them in the servers they sell.

Yeah, I know.. you're all sick of me raving about it in every "suggest a case" thread, but it's really that good.

                    APEX Supercase full tower;

                    6 - 5.25" bays on top
                    2 - 3.5" external bays
4 - 3.5" internal bays (perfect for a RAID array)
                    3 - built-in fan mounts
                    drop-down m/b mount
                    casters

~$60 USD w/300 watt p/s at local computer shows.

                    I've got 3 and you can't beat the features/$$

that site is pretty good for cases. if i build my own comp. later in the year i may be tempted by one of their aluminium ones, but they are lots of £££ so i would probably go with an enlight one

I can't afford it nor I can afford the shipment all the way to Israel, but I still like this one the most:
