  • Seeking some audio recommendations

I know this isn't exactly hardware related, but I thought who but Matrox users appreciate quality?

Anyhow, I'm looking to add a center channel to my audio setup. Currently I have Kenwood 6050 Receiver and 2 Bose 201s. I also added a small Sony 8" subwoofer because these Boses had no lows whatsoever. Currently I'm looking to add a center channel speaker, but the problem is that there is only 4" of space in between my TV and a shelf on top of it. The only center speaker that slim that I could find is Bose VCS10, but after buying the 201s I don't burn with desire to buy anything Bose again. Does anyone know of a decent center channel that could fit in there?

If no such speaker exists, I have another option. I could put one on top shelf of the entertainment center, but the shelf is about 6' high. Would it be ok to put the center speaker that high or would it defeat the whole purpose?

Below is the overall picture of my center, can someone recommend relocation? I was maybe I should put the 201s on top of the very top of the drawers, move the receiver to the side and put the center channel there? Would 8' be way too high for front speakers?

    Thanks for your advice

    Hmmmmm...

Normally, I wouldn't be to keen about putting a center channel 6' up, but since your fronts are almost that high up, it might be okay. I'd say start with a nice B&W center and start building out from there with B&W speakers as a nice upgrade to your HT

KvH would be a much better resource, since he does this stuff for a living. I'll post back when I got some more time.

Cool, thank you. Eventually I'm planning to get some decent speakers to replace "Blose" and use the 201s are surrounds

Oh yeah, one more thought.... See that kenwood receiver? What if I relocate it to the top and put the center there, right between the speakers?

Also, my budget is sort of tight right now, so I was kind of thinking "el cheapo" way. I have two Sony Xplod 6.5" speakers, what if I make a cutom box for them and use them as center? Problem with them they are not magnetically shielded, is it hard to shield them?
