Anybody have any experience with Mitubishi monitors, in particular the Mitsubishi 19" Diamond Plus 92?

  • #2
I'm using a pair of 19" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 900U monitors at work, which are very nice. Generally, Mitsubishi monitors (with Diamondtron screens) are excellent, but I personally find that Iiyama monitors using the same screens have better screen geometry adjustability, and better warranty.

Although I've gone off CRTs now, and want a nice 18" TFT. But the cost...

No personal experience, but Mitsubishi's seem to be roughly on par with Iiyama's from magazine reviews. I don't know if that's the same model, but there was a 19" NF screen from them I was very interested in (eventually went with Iiyama as their 3 year support was reported to be excellent - and my only dealing was met with a quick response ).

I have a 900U at home, I'm very happy with it. Great picture quality, looks great hanging off my G400 with BNC cables.

I have a 22" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2040u and I am disappointed with it. There is some hazing that I can never get rid of(partly due to my ATI card). The dot pitch just doesn't look as good as the arpeture grill IMO. Although it is 22", it really is a 21" and it doesn't do full screen. I know analog monitors aren't perfect, but the horizontal and vertical rgb are never quite right in the corners and it drives me bonkers. I am wondeirng if my opinion will change after "P"? I wouldn't buy another one though.

I've got a Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 220. I've got to say not the best of monitors. It lacks focus and no way can it run at the recommended 1600 X 1200. It also suffers from Vertical convergance problems at the top and Bottom of the screen and theres no adjustment for this.

i have a mitsubishi 710 at home, and i have to say that it is the best display i have seen, especially combined with the g400 max

picture quality is awesome, colours are crisp, text is sharp and games and dvd's are much better when the optimal picture button is pressed.

i would advise you to go to a shop and check out the monitor before buying it, because imo it is the most important part of your computer.

the plus models dont tend to be as good as the u models but they are cheaper, personally id pay the extra and go for a u model as its something you have to throw away if you wish to upgrade and shouldnt be much more in price with current crt prices.

Interesting that both Helevitia have convergance problems. Note I've changed the Monitor three times and all have had varying degrees of convergance. So do all large monitors tend to suffer from this more than say a 17 inch?

Yeah, the larger the monitor, the longer the path the electron beam has to take. And when you end up with the curved path it has to take to get to the corners, the three beams end up having to travel different distances. When you think about it it's fricken amazing CRTs work as good as they do, that's a whole lot of complex physics in there.

But I have to say I prefer my Diamond Pro 900u to the Sony I used to have, the colors are better balanced, and I have no convergence problems at all. And the USB controls absolutley rock, why don't more monitors have this?

Yup some people still do. I live like 5 mins from CSUS. I got my first access to the internet from them, using gopher from a shell account from my C64 at 300 baud

                          You from around here?
