  • Updated AMD-roadmap

The ppl over @ x-bit labs has an updated AMD-roadmap which shows that the new 2800+ is coming at the end of the year. Here's a snippet:

To tell the truth, there is not so much new info there, because all these facts have already appeared on our site. We were very much excited however about the new 2800+ CPU, which appeared on the roadmap, however, this is not a very new thing too. This is most likely to be an Athlon built on 0.13micron Barton core (512KB L2 cache), which AMD will start producing by UMS in Q4 2002. All the rest seems to be unchanged: Q3 – Athlon XP 2400+, Q4 – Athlon on 0.13micron ClawHammer and 3400+ rating, next year the rating is expected to grow up to 4000+ and then to 4400+ (after they move to 0.09micron).
Hmm, this talk about 0.09 micron makes me wonder how long it will take until nVidiots starts screaming about P. needing to be in an smaller die.
    I'll buy a new card Soon™, very Soon™!

    Screaming is all they can!
And they are already doing it

Does AMDs clock speed rise proportionally to their performance rating? I.e. is a 4400+ running at twice the clock speed as a 2200+?

Well, does it hold for current AMD XP ratings?

        That should answer your question

I wonder if barton will have a higher XP rating than normal XP's at the same Ghz?, probably will

Well the 4400+ is a hammer and that would suggest that the hammer will have a higher rating for each MHz.

Hammer is expected to have a 25% performance increase over TBird at the same clock speed (with 32 bit software, of course), most of which comes from the integrated memory controller. First tests show that this figure is likely an understatement.
