Sounds a dumb question I know. I've just switched my Mitsubishi back to it's recommended resolution 1600 x 1200. Last time I tried the test was too blurred to read. The graphics card hasn't changed (Radeon 8500) only the drivers over the period.

Yeah, monitors CAN "burn in". But more than likely your Radeon drivers are just better now. ATI is pretty famous for that... bizarre 2D improvements (or detriments) with drivers.

I remember how shocked I was when I installed the Kyro card I had with the drivers from the box. It looked like someone had smeared grease all over the screen.
The 2D was never good on it, but newer drivers sure made it a lot better."That's right fool! Now I'm a flying talking donkey!"

Perhaps my eye sight is getting better . It isn't but it's interesting I've used several hours without too much discomfort.
