Look at the card, yuo need extra power input like in the Voodoo5!!!!
If rumors are true, and ATI have a 0.15micron process, 105mil transistors on the chip, they will have a BIG problem with the clock speed! I don't think R300 will be as fast as many fanATIcs are hoping....
We have to wait untill next round when 0.13micron processes are more availible! And don't cound Matrox out!

1) WHO cares about needing another power connector? AGP Pro would have solved the power problem in the neatest forum but the spec seemed to have died as no card manufacturers used it.
2) Ha bloody ha - do u think the clockspeed of the Matrox card is anywhere near as fast as everyone thought it would be? You also stress the fanatic wrt ATI - jesus look at the evangelism here for Matrox - almost makes me want to barf. I've used Matrox cards for years and years and the Parhelia is no longer on the shopping list. A shame but so what, IMO it's too expensive for what it does. I'm not whining/moaning/demanding better drivers/0.13 micron bah blah blah - just I'll buy something else and be done with it. My G400 Max is end of life (has been for a while) so I'd like something now - not whenever Matrox plays catch up again.
1) I do. Part of this issue is pretty elementary: Power that goes in has to come out. If the card can't live on the 10-15W or so many video cards currently subsist on, cooling moves way up on the list of potential issues. There are AGP Pro motherboards, but so far I've only seen professional CAD cards need them.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.
IMHO: I don't think theres any reason to dislike a card that uses an pnboard power input.
Less force on the mobo and probably more stable...
If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.
Jeremy Clarkson "806 brake horsepower..and that on that limp wrist faerie liquid the Americans call petrol, if you run it on the more explosive jungle juice we have in Europe you'd be getting 850 brake horsepower..."
I hear it is a 10 layer board so that might allow higher speeds than the Parhelia, im still not sure whether the board has 107 mill transistors @ .15 and can run at high clock speeds, the 0.13 probably can but im not sure about .15. But then again i hope ATI do prove me wrong so it will put the pressure on nvidia to get the nv30 out quicker I wonder what the 2d quality is gonna be like on this board the R8500 was good so id suspect it will be better, maybe even upto matrox standards
