ATI VE verses Matrox G550

Yes, but it's hard to get these days, and thus still quite pricey (for its age and performance) - and really not fast enough to play newer games decently. It was a great card while it lasted, but after four years, I think it's time to retire
All G400/G450 cards don't provide DualDVI, only G550 does that (and Parhelia).

Be careful about he card you choose, though. Some ATI third party / OEM manufacturers deliver less than decent quality (e.g. PowerColor).
Best bet would be a "Built by ATI".
And if you don't care about gaming I'd get a cheap used G400 DH (doesn't really matter if it's the MAX or not).

My problem isn't with poping polygones but disk access while playing.... but I have one question.... Win2k or Winxp with ATI radeon 8500, just asking because I've somewhere that the newest drivers work better on WinXP than Win2K (or at least better performance). What was the error? Well its the ID10T error.

I'm using Win2k here as I find WinXP too bloated. And since I don't have any performance problems with my Radeon except for the two known "problem cases" for ATI (Comanche4 and GTA3), I didn't see any reason to upgrade to WinXP - I have the latter on my new Notebok since it came with it and this only confirmed my preference for Win2k over XP.
