Those CD's with damage that doesn't go too deep (meaning you can't catch your fingernail on 'em) can possibly be helped by the treatments discussed earlier...but I've had better luck with those NOT based on liquid optical waxes.
Of these the machines that use a fine polishing compound work the best as they do what SkippyDisk etc. do, but not to as deep a level.
One caveat though: you can only repair "play side" damage. Damage to the label side of the disk, which is where the data is stored, is usually not reparable.
