which SCSI card do you have?

On my Adaptec 2940 UW I only have to enable 'allow boot from CDROM drives' in the SCSI BIOS, and it will boot just fine when it detects a bootable CDROM, either from my CD writer or DVD drive.

Cheap tekram card. I have to tell it which ID to boot off, and do something else before it actually will. And it never seems to find a bootbale CD. Maybe I've just been dumb.

on my Adaptec, the Boot SCSI ID is only applicable for HDD boots. For CDROM boots, it doesn't matter which ID the CDROM/DVD is on.

Maybe CDROM and HDD boot support in SCSI are two completely different things, like they are for IDE. You might want to read up on that.

          Ok - I officially suck

There was a 'Boot from CD' option in the SCSI BIOS that I hadn't checked. Let us never speak of it again.

Well, that'll make my reinstall easier - Changing the computer to standard computer has done nothing for Jedi Knight (apart from making it crash and screw up the display instead of crash and lock the computer hard).

The IRQ's remain unchanged, and fiddling in the BIOS appears not to prevent both the Radeon and the network card sharing 11.

Looks like I@m out of ideas again. For the fourth or fifth time this week.

Did you try changing irq:s in device manger (resources tab)?

As a test, why not remove the NIC and see if that really is part of the problem?
