  • Monitor problems…

My old monitor stopped working and was sent of to be fixed and in the mean time I borrowed a monitor that used to go 24/7.
Now that monitor has gone crazy:
I changed resolution (to 640*480) and when I returned to the old resolution (1024*768) the screen seemed to “ripple” like water.
Raising the freq to 100 from 85 fixed it….
But when I go back to 85 it don’t ripple any more but the width is really screwed up!
The screen width is larger than the available screen size and adjusting the width with the monitor controls only distorts the picture instead of making it narrower…
Has any one some kind of explanation on this weird behaviour? (Personally I believe its broken )
On the other hand I have already seen a screen who where reversed colours in resolutions under 1024*768 (the older demo monitor we replaced with this) so I’m not surprised by crazy monitor behaviour

Well now I only hope that my old monitor will be fixed quick so I can be relieved of this current POS I got

Well, now I got my monitor back and they have fixed the powersupply but totally screwed up the horizontal controls.
And coincidently other refurbished monitors we bought from that place has had the same problem…
And when I phoned them explaining the problem, the first thing I am told is:
“He that repairs them isn’t here and secondly he is a grumpy old SOB so I your lucky he wasn’t here”

    Really really comforting!
So we’re returning it so they can have another go at it….

But I’m going to buy a new screen.

And It’ll be A Philips….. (well if its no good I can of coarse get another )

Why a philips, of all things?

What size are you thinking of buying? (If it's 21", go with EIZO, they are dirt cheap right now!)

I have to say that my Philips 19" is pretty good- the best I've used or seen yet (and that includes several Sony's, that it at least matches, while being cheaper). Mine's a 109P20. Sorry to hear about all your troubles though.

            Because it was dirt cheap

I think 19'' are a trifle to big!

I could have gone with a CTX with almost exact the same specs, but it was bigger and heavier and more expensive

            The Philips a "107E20"

If I'm lucky I'l get it tomorow

LOL. That's the first time I've heard someone complain about getting headaches from using a better monitor than they had before.

                            Now I don't

It's all has to do with adjusting
