I received the nic on the picture below some months ago and was really confused. after discussing it with some other guys (and in #MURC - thanks for your answers, do you remember?
) I sent an email to intel. as they ignored my request I forgot the card in a drawer.
now I've found it again - and I still don't know what to think about it. maybe the proven murc-knowledge will lead to the answer...![Wink](http://murc.ws/core/images/smilies/wink.gif)
let's start with the results I got so far. I found the spec sheet on in the intel homepage ( http://developer.intel.com/design/n...llers/82562.htm ). it's the ET chip and I even have the drivers.
searching (google & various others) for different numbers / names on the board was useless (unless it's an pcchips mainboard in disguise - I found one named TS-M-8VOC).
the description of the chip could lead to the impression that it is a card only useful together with an ICH2/3/4-equipped mainboards from intel, but what socket is it designed for?
imho it's too short for 64bit and too long for CNR/ARM card. I was stupid/brave enough to try it in my mainboard - it fits into a normal PCI slot, gets powered and is detected by the hub as a 100mbit NIC - but the last 1.5cm are outside a normal socket. win2k does not recognise the card, if installed in my system (kt133).
any ideas? or anyone who wants to have it?![Smilie](http://murc.ws/core/images/smilies/smile.gif)
thx,
