  • My New Watercooled System

My main tower was down for 2 weeks while I worked on this. It has an Eheim 1250 pump, 3/8" tubing, a radial highflow waterblock, and an all copper radiator with an 80mm fan. And a cool blue light

Here's the link to my pics (warning, each is ~0.5 MB)

Check my sig for the rest of the system specs.

Sorry if it seems like I'm gloating, but I'm just happy and amazed it works!

How about shrinking those pics down to size a tad there bud... load speed is poor and they are flippin huge

I gave up after the second pic

I didn't realize it was that slow, I'm used to it being on my LAN. I resized the res to 800x600 and got them down to ~70k each. Hope that helps. Sorry about the large size.

        Thx much better

What is the room ambient temp and the peak temp under full load?

Room ambient is 74 - 76, depending upon which corner, and the peak temp under full load is 115. All temps in Farenheit.

I was amazed, because my old Thunderbird 1Ghz was running at 145 full load, and the case temp was 88.

You know, Greebe, I was just reading your profile, and I noticed you have a watercooled system. What are it's specs?

about the same as yours (more or less) but mine set me back about $80 (cheap radiator/pump and made my own water block)

I just ran some specs on yours and I would have thought it would perform better... I'm looking at it being ~0.3C/W which is rather high

Are you accounting for my processor? That puts out about 70 watts nominally, and I have a lot of internal components and the radiator is mounted up top. The radiator is also cutting the flow down a bit by going from 3/8" tubing to 1/4". And my fittings aren't exactly high flow. So the pump isn't moving that much water. The pump also puts out a bit of heat into the water. I ran just the pump with the radiator fan on and the water got fairly warm.

I couldn't have calculated the C/W rating without taking into effect your CPU peak power rating.

High flow is misnomer, ie not neccessary for good cooling

Then any ideas behind the surprisingly low efficiency? I'm happy with it now, but I need it better when I go back to a stuffy dorm.

Here's the thread on mine when I had my old Athlon 500@850 being cooled by the same...

How big is your radiator? (looks rather small) Fan size/Airflow?

It is rather small, but I read a few reviews on it and it got one of the best efficiencies with my size pump. Can't seem to find the review, tho.

                            Link to the radiator

The fan blows about 28 CFM, I believe. It is mounted in the top rear of the case.

Edit: I found the link to the review, its more at the bottom under the conclusions section, and it is a long read.

My radiator (now obsolete) is ~12" x 5" x 3/4" using two 80mm el cheapo case fans sucking air through it. Me thinks you need more airflow at least double it... a decient 120mm ~120cfm 12v fan set to run at 7VDC would keep it quiet and significantly improve cooling effeciency
