  • Need mail client!

I have used Outlook express in the past, since I found it easy to use, but have stopped using it because of security issues and because I never managed to back up all my mails & preferences to carry them over to a new windows installation (not just a reinstallation, but a format + install).

I tried Eudora, but don't like the user interface at all.

Outlook just has way too much stuff I don't need, making it complicated, and 2000 kept crashing on me.

So, I need a new mail client. Preferably one with the following features:

    - Free
    - Secure
    - Can handle multiple mail addresses
    - easy to carry mails etc. over to a new installation

Other fancy features might be nice, but not neccessary (filtering, deleting mail on the server, etc.)

    Any suggestions?

    Oh, I'm using Win98SE.

There's an Opera in my macbook.

    Hi,

    you could try

    - Amicron MailOfficeAmicron Mailoffice . They have a freewareversion too.

    - Pegasus Mail

    - look at Tucows for a list of mail clients (already sorted with freeware first)

I used to us Mail Warrior from these people, http://www.kaufmansoft.com/Index.htm, quite nice, free and very small

        <a href="http://www.emailman.com/guide/pine.gif">PINE</a> and <a href="http://www.mozilla.org/mailnews/specs/labels/images/Label1.gif">Mozilla Mail</a> meet all your requirements.

Added: MailWarrior looks nice. How good is the filtering? And you say you "used to use it" -- what do you use now?

az - If I look at your feature wish list, Pegasus Mail V4.02 is the perfect candidate for you !

I am storing my mails since 1997 and I always keep a 1000 to 1500 of them in my folders. Changed the system several times since then, never lost a single mail. No hiccups, no crashes. If you like the style of it you`re getting addicted soon ...
