  • send this modem back?

A friend got his cnr modem fried by lightning. He got a new PCI hw v.92 modem. I removed all trace of the old, installed the new.

All seems fine, all tests passed etc, set for uk, all settings as normal/required. Except, when he dials (Freeserve Anytime), it gets to the end of the speed negotiation and then gets disconnected.

If I just use the DUN icon to dial, an error message is created (at the point of disconnection) that says there is a driver problem and to uninstall/reinstall the modem. I've done this, and even used a Freeserve setup disc, but no change.

Faulty? Any suggestions? The modem is an Ambient internal V92, OS is Win98 original.

    TIA

    Tony.

Hmm...seems it is working today...looks like it was Freeserve's fault. Damn Freeserve cost us quite some time messing there!

If I'm such a muppet (which I may be!), why was I getting a message telling me there was a problem with the drivers? I've never seen that before!

I can't be bothered to search, so just image I've posted a picture of the BALD doctor muppet, ok? j/k?
