I had a feeling you were holding back the last time I called Paul

Absolutely true.. Intel has a way of bending you over if they have a clear speed advantage. AMD is too stupid/nice to do likewise. Though they did charge a premium way back when they had the first 1GHz Athlon.

And the lunacy continues.. According to pricewatch, the 'street' price of a 2200+ just dropped from about $200 to about $160 (slower grades dropped to lesser extents) Can you really say a P4 2.53 is worth 4 times this price?

When VIA was the only option, yeah, they were worth it. But with SiS there....
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Dunno about that.. haven't really had any trouble with this Epox KT333 board yet. Seems nice, stable, and fast to me. And I'm one who wouldn't have touched "that VIA crap" back in the P3 days. 440BX had no peers then.

Tho there are many situations that your KT333 setup would not work or work as well as an equivalent SIS (745) based system which I might add costs significantly less than.

If they ever do Vid editing or have a raid array they would (paid attention to like so many of us do)

VIA is not on Matrox's reccomended list of MB's to use with most of thier Editing cards. To simply think that IF they (Joe user) ever wanted to do it would be more troublesome if they nipped it in the bud from the get go than to go OMFG I need to upgrade MB's too?! SHEIT!!!

Well since most of your Tier one Vendors still use Intel based Chip and chipsets in their computers, you could say yes the avg user would notice if they used a Via chipset
