    One against all!

There is a new german Radeon 9700 Pro review out! Chip.de is testing the new ATI chip against a GF4 Ti4600 and... yes right: Our beloved Parhelia!
I am just reading it, so I won't comment it yet.

    chip.de Radeon 9700 review

Edit: They also have a Anti-Aliasing picture gallery there, which compares the quality of each card. Unfortunatly the pictures are very small and they are really dark, you can't tell which card is better there.

hmm interestingly parhelia convincingly beats a 4600 at high res and detail in these tests yet very few of the initial reviews of p included such tests!and that was without the latest performance enhancing drivers too!
is a flower best picked in it's prime or greater withered away by time?
Talk about a dream, try to make it real.

103er-Fan: Erm, this is exactly the same review isochar posted above in this thread. See also above why it's flawed.

Borat: He even gives the GF4 a strong unfair advantage as he uses quincunx, which is fast but does look like crap. If he'd use real AA on the GF4 (not to speak from even real 6x AA as he uses on the R9700), it would look even worse.

Thanks Indiana! I musta been not paying attention that week, cause I don't remember anything about that...

that has to be one of the worst reviews ever

like Indiana said look at the AA and ansio benchies, look at the settings used:

              GF4: Quincunx + 8x Ansio
              Parhelia: 16xFAA + 2x Ansio
              R9700: 6xMSAA + 16x Ansio

[sarcasm]wow this guy sure does know what he is doing[/sarcasm]

i think we should wait till tomarrow and look at a "proper" review

Here is a link to rage3d with some cool info from quakecon. It's not a review but it's the next best thing and if everything he says is true, than my purchase of this card is inevtiable

                    Surprise Surprise indeed...

Take a look at real bench now instead of some botched one, lets see if youre still that much unimpressed.

wow. i know whats gonna be under my christmas tree this year do you?
am especially impressed with the UT2003 performance (the only game next to D3 i care about), it smokes the 4600. 300% @1600x1200 4xAA 16XANI. 500% with the same settings in JK2.

hmm the card seem to be still very cpu limited, even at 1600x1200.

JK2 AA ON AF ON @1600x1200:
                      1,5Ghz AMD: 25 FPS
                      2,5Ghz AMD: 92 FPS!

This is what the Parhelia should've done.

Funny you should mention it, that was the performance the hype surrounding P. led me to expect too.

                              Very impressive
Now I have to admit that I am actually a bit annoyed that I bought the Parhelia instead of waiting for Radeon 9700 benchies, especially as a fan of Anti-Aliasing and Aniso Filtering
But I will see how UT 2003 plays on my P. when it's out

No real reason to be annoyed, You bought what you thought to be the best option at the time you made your decision.
Maybe the ATI 9700 buyers will get the same feeling when the NV30 is released next year. That's just how things are in computer-business. Any card that's really available is already starting to get old...
