SiS 746 Chipset

Hi Ya Folks,
When will this chipset and supporting motherboards come out of the closet.

I'm in the mood to get a new computer, and let my wife and little girl have this one for their games and internet.

The main differences is that it will be mated with the new SiS 963 southbridge. This will provide a 1 GB/s bus to the SiS 746, SerialATA, USB2 and AGP8x.

IF you don't absolutely need these then the SiS 745 chipped boards should do fine.

If you can't wait for the SiS 746 boards to hit the market and wouldn't mind going to the P4 CPU then look up the new SiS 648 based P4 boards coming out *everywhere*. They too use the SiS 963 southbridge and are very fast. Asus, Gigabyte and all the usual suspects will be making them.

MSI's 746 offering (the only one I'd touch to start) ought to be available... any ol' time now.

But again, unless you're fond of useless technologies (USB2, AGP8) it's not much different from the 745.
