  • Question about Super Mario I

Yes, that was not a typo. I have a question about one of the great classics Super Mario 1. Got bored with these wiz bang graphic games like UT, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Forces and Star Trek Armada II

    Now for the question:
There is a negative world that one can get to from 1-2 by doing a crouching thing on top of the pipe at the end and jumping crouched at the wall all the way up without breaking the block on the end. You land inside the wall and when you stand up you get pushed all the way to the right to the warp pipes which were for 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1. I got back there once and got to -1. I have an inkling thought that there is a -2, -3, and -4. Anyone remeber how to beat -1 and if these other negative levels exist?

Come on fire up those old and decayed neurons. Someone has to have this info locked in their subconscious.

Never ever saw that. Would be nice to see some new levels.

Just get so high you can and break the "roof" and then walk all the way and you'l reach there!

If you wan' I'l make some screen shots

Break the blocks up top? I can get to the end of 1-2 even without doing that and traverse to the negative level though not every time. It is a precarious jump. My question is how to beat the negative 1 level and if there are any others.

Using the warp pipes you can finish the game in 15 minutes... at least my friend can. Just do a search on google, I'm sure there are 100s of sites with the info. The jumps are easy to make you just have to break the right blocks and sometimes hit some hidden blocks.

hmmm, I recall beating the game in 8 minutes once. If I remember correct, you can warp from 1-1 to 4-1 and then from 4-2 to 8-1. Then you have to do the last 8-2, 8-3, and 8-4.

It's the negative level that I never heard about. I know about the warp pipes, but High_Jumbllama talks of some kind of negative levels, those are what I'd like to see.

Are you talking about the never ending water level? I remember when I stumbled upon that and was like wtf? I ended up playing that level all day one day but never found an end to it. He'd just go in the pipe, and start all over again....

                      Excellent!!!

                      Hold on a second while I bookmark that. . . . . . There!
                      and aahhhh.

The Minus World was a glitch in the original game. To reach the level, stand on the pipe in World 1-2 that takes you to the flagpole. Break the 2nd and 3rd blocks from the right. Then, face left and jump. Hit the back of your head on the left side of the brick next to the pipe. If you do it right, you should be pulled through the wall. Quickly jump into the left pipe to enter the Minus World, which has no exit. If you wait too long, however, you'll end up in World 4.

I was never able to make it into World 4 through the negative level. Then again, I always died (on purpose) before the time would run out. I hated it when the time ran out...

Oh okay, I remember what you are talking about. I believe I did tried that out a long, long time ago. I also remember it being pretty lame.
