  • What are Good 19" Monitor Brands and models for DH?

    I have had two KDS XF 9E's but I could not run them both in 1280 X 1024 @ 85Hz. I have a G450 16Mb AGP Card.

If I did they would get vertical lines moving up and down on each monitor.???

They also had a problem where if the refresh rate was the same for each there was flickering in the middle of each monitor?

What I need is some first hand experience with monitors that you all are using on a Matrox card in DH mode. Tell me what brands you have used and which ones you like or dislike! Thanks in advance!

    any 19" PRO monitor can do 1280 X 1024 @ 85Hz
    I have ViewSonic PF790, it's very good.

However, for everyday work (programming, graphics) i would not advise using that resolution on 19". I use 1152x864 , in that case you get same pixel size as 800x600 on 15" iirc.

Or, even better, run that 19" at 1280x960

I have an Iiyama VMPro450 and it's excellent, I use it at 1600x1200x32 on my G400, and the 2nd head on a VM1451 (budget 19") or PackBell 17", at 1024x768 or above.

Many people here love Cornerstone's though, bigmonitors.com I think?

Well, first of all, if you are a U.S. Tech Patriot, get an nVidia card - it's the only one of the big graphics chip makers that resides in the U.S.

Sorry, just making fun of your nick. Welcome to the forums

Sounds like your monitors are poorly shielded. You could try putting them further apart, or putting a metal plate between them.

A rule of thumb would be that the more a monitor qeighs, the better it's shielded. And of course, the more expensive it is...

Oh, and don't buy the Iiyama Vision Master Pro 452. They make some great screens, but this one isn't one of them. I own one, unfortunately

Should I suggest Cornerstone? (LOL yes again

They make great monitors as many here will attest to other than myself (do a search on "Cornerstone" to find threads).

MU metal is by far the best material for shielding monitors from affecting each other in this manner.

The 19" KDS has Sony guts and I've had 3 Sony G400's die on me in the last year. Take that FWIW.

Right now I'm 6 months into a 19" ViewSonic A90f and all is well.

I've had my oldest Samsung for 4 years no probs. My current Samsung 900NF I bought when it was already 3months old and have been running it for 1.5 years. Their reliability is about is good as it gets. With the NF series you get the Mitsubishi Diamondtron, but at a higher price. I bought mine used for $300. They can be had new for about $420.

I'd go for some Philips 109P's, Samsung 900NF's, or Viewsonic PF790's if the budget allows....

I can vouch for the Samsung 900IFT - it's a nice screen, although anything below 1024x768 (e.g. old games), and you get black horizontal lines as it can't thicken up the dot pitch enough for lower resolutions. Not really a problem now though, is it?

Cornerstone makes the best monitors I have ever used. And I've used a lot!

A lot of MURC'ers use them, and all love them.
