Seems to be the small setup file (479 kb) which allows you to download the rest of the files according to your needs.

The question is for XP, if SP1 is already installed (it also updates IE to 6.0.2800.1106) would there be reason to install IE6 SP1, is it the same version ?

Edit: it downloaded only about 800 kb for XP (with SP1 installed), and it didn't let me choose if I want to download it all like the old setups did.

It's available on Windows Update for Windows 2000 users.

                  Confused here!?

Not sure about this, but let me test my memory anyway.

The last time I ran Windows update (Sunday) from my W2K SP3 machine with IE6 pre SP1, I remember being offered a critical/security update for MediaPlayer 6.4

Now after SP1 has been applied, that is no longer offered, but Media Player 9 beta is offered.

Do I therefore conclude that the DRM update on MP6.4 I have refused till now, have now been installed without my permission as part of SP1?

Is there anyway to check? - Anybody else seeing the same?

Edit: My MP6.4 is version 6.4.09.1121 after SP1 application.

                    For Win2k/WinXP users:

After you save ie6setup.exe to you HDD, right-click-drag the file inside the same folder and select "Create Shortcut(s) Here". Right-click on the shortcut and go to Properties -> Shortcut. Add this to the end of the shortcut:

                    /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

So the full string should look something like this:

                    D:\IE\ie6setup.exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

Run the shortcut and it will allow you to download the full install files for any and all M$ OS's.

                      Nice idea Jammrock.

Tried it, but W2K complains about an invalid path or filename - sure about the format of that instruction?

LvR you can also make a batch file (ie6.bat) with this text in it and place it into the directory where you downloaded the file ie6setup.exe.

                        call "ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

                        this will certainly work.

                        Second: Dual PIII 1GHz | 21" Monitor | G200MMS + Quadro 2 Pro | 512MB ECC SDRAM | SCSI
                        Third: Apple G4 450Mhz | 21" Monitor | Radeon 8500 | 1,5Gb SDRAM | SCSI

The /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E" (need all the "") is what you add at the end of the shortcut path. It should work. You can type it in manually in the command line too. Go to the folder where ie6setup.exe is located and type:

                          ie6setup /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

                            Thanks Keifront and Jammrock.

For the life of me, I just could not get it going by trying to do the original shortcut method and my chosen store folder. Maybe a problem with the total number of characters allowed in that shortcut field?.

Manually running it from the command line in that same directory did the trick though.

Does this pull the language files as well?
