When I said speed I meant 2D in windows, that new 2.3 cat drivers are great, no issues there.

Looking at the properties it is running at 2560 * 1024 which I assume means it is stretching that across two monitors rather then running two displays at 1280 *14024. When you maximise something on one display it flickers the other display, meaning they are linked a little more I would like.

I would be happy to work this way if it worked. My house mate has nearly the same system and he has two displays working but it is so tempermental he is just going to buy a cheap PCI card and chuck that in. Might follow him until have the funds for a P.

You guys apprear to be in the know, I assume 2k is fine running with two cards, no major issues I should be aware of.

Yes, with Win2k the desktop can only be stretched as long as there's only one gfx-card installed. With two gfx-cards (or a driver that fakes two gfxcards with only one) this problem does not exist.
Unfortunately while the newest ATI drivers do support this on Win2k for the 9000 and 9700 series they do not for the 7500/8500 - which is kinda stupid as it should work there as well - well maybe the next revision....

(this was one reason for me - besides the better Firewire networking with my Notebook - to finally break my resistance and install WinXP. Still Win2k stays my main OS).

For the XP 2D acceleration I have to do a search myself as I don't have this problem. But I've seen quite a few posts of that with specific Reg-Settings on the Rage3D and other ATI-Forums. You could also install the Omegadriver drivers as they are supposed to do those reg-settings anyway.
But we named the *dog* Indiana...
