Given the driver history of the Audigy, I would wait at least 18 months before getting an Audigy 2... you might be lucky and get the 2nd driver update by then

yeh i agree about the driver issues.. especial ASIO implimentation... its terible... thinking of going to a 4 in 6 out aardvark 24/96 card...... need it for my line of work .. and i dont play games (much)

It (the Accoustic) may still be available, but I think Philips stopped production. The thing is, I like philips Monitors a lot (silly me actually thinks they r among the best), but I am not sure whether I would want to depend on a company like philips for driver support for something like a soundcard. This goes especialy if it is a discontinued product, which I think it is.
Philips had some of the best EEs (patriot that I am) but they tend to change product policy a lot. Soon as they quit the Soundcard business, u r screwed.....

Well, you of course can't play back DRM protected media with DRM-free players. And I don't know if Creative's DRM stuff will affect Total Recorder.

I don't think creative's drivers would shut down any record option when playing back non DRM protected media. And they CAN'T shut ALL outputs down when playing protected media, too, or you wouldn't be able to hear much

Yeah, that was to be expected. But even recording on the digital out isn't the best (or easiest) recording method, so the question remains: Does this prevent the use of Total Recorder from www.highcriteria.com? I think this software acts as a virtual soundcard, and it's the audio equivalent of utilities like HyperSnap DX, in that it records anything that's played back on your PC - including game sound. Would be interesting to know if you can record DRM protected media with it.
