  • Kyro 2 SE Cancelled!

    From 3dspotlight:

    Noticed over on Paraknowya that Hercules have seemingly cancelled their 3D Prophet 4800, Kyro 2 SE powered Graphics card. This is based on that fact that Overclockers Online review now states;

    Hercules have asked us to remove this article because they have decided to cancel the release of the 3D Prophet 4800 with the KYRO2 SE chipset ...
    Seemingly Videologic have given up on releasing their own Kyro 2 SE card as well (Hercules were intended to be the first to retail such Graphics card before any others could). Wonder whatever will happen to Kyro 3 seeing there's absolutely no news whatsoever about who'll be manufacturing it.
    According to the latest official figures, 43% of all statistics are totally worthless...

    Hell wasn't this card annoced like 6 months ago?
    Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

          The Series 4, if ever introduced, may have potential, but with noone producing it...I'm not so sure...

          Industry sources have said we would have seen KyroIII several months ago had STM not pulled out of the graphics market...

            Kyro is pretty much dead. SMT was selling their kyro-developing subsiduary quite a while ago and I havent noticed news about anyone buying it. Well at least technology is still fine as PowerVR still exists, maybe in some years someone else will pick it up.

              If VIA decides to go for it then they may indeed produce Series 5. But if they've been working on Columbia for all this time...

                  It may be OK seeing as PowerVR would direct the operation....
