But seriously...Solarism makes gaming LCD display's. 20 ms refreshes, high contrast, etc. They are expensive though:

To tell you the truth, I haven't found one LCD yet that can handle games properly. But on the other hand, it all goes down to user preference. What some people find annoying others can live with. One thing you should stay away from is MVA which a lot of LCDs use. MVA has bad response times going from gray to black, which causes mucho ghosting.

I just used my first LCD for gaming last night and if that LCD is any indication of how horrible it looks when playing games, I would steer away from all of them for a while.

EDIT: it was a Dell(sony maybe?)

I have a Viewsonic VG181b as the center monitor in my triple-head setup. It does ok for me. It has a 30ms response time. I have my monitors running at 75hz refresh.

I have a 17" Hitachi, it's a 20ms response time from black to white and 30ms for white to black, I think, I might have them backwards, but I can stand Q3A, UT and ToonTown just fine on it. ToonTown being the worst one, cause you actually have to read signs But for movies and most gaming, I've been really happy with it.

I looked at some specs of Viewsonics before I went for the Samsung. They seemed to offer good response times but analogue only inputs which of course wouldn't be a problem at the moment.

I personally would wait until FFD (Feed Foward Driving) is introduced to LCDs. I've been hearing it will be implemented in the first half of 2003, but I haven't heard any official reports about it. It is supposed to improve response times by a considerable amount and can be paired with existing technologies like MVA, etc.

Well it seems to me that movies aren't any problem with most Tft monitors. But when I played Jedi Knight 2 on a Compaq 17" Tft with 25ms response time the image wasn't near as sharp as an ordinary crt when turning fast.

Well no word on that because it hasn't been in the market yet (at least I don't think it has). But they say it is easily integrated and no major design changes have to take place for even existing models of LCDs, so the price shouldn't be much higher. I'd say it would be worth it though since it will finally make LCDs comparible to CRTs in respect to gaming.

Some info about FFD here and here. Both articles are kinda old as it was delayed, but it is still being planned for use in LCDs if not already. I would say first half of 2003 we should start to see it used more.
